31 days of Halloween

This is a fun Game the whole family can play.  First print out your pumpkins, laminate them, and cut them out.
Here's how you play:  One person hides the pumpkins in the house or outside.  The other family members go and find them.  The person with the most pumpkins wins!  There are 3 differant sizes the smaller ones are for the older kids, and the large ones are for the smaller kids.  Have fun!

The Neighborhood Halloween game.

Scary Chicken and rice dinner.
This is so fun to make for dinner around Halloween.
To make the pumpkin chicken breast, I put 2 breast into a Ziploc bag and add 15 drops of orange food coloring.  Zip the bag closed and moosh it all around until the chicken is coated.  For the Bat chicken do the same thing but with 20 drops of black food coloring.  (if you use to little your chicken will come out looking a little more green than black).
Now Bake, broil or zip 'n steam your chicken!
WORD TO THE WISE: If you zip 'n steam your chicken in the microwave, be ready with a damp cloth to wipe up the black or orange residue from your microwaves steam bath!
I used cheese to make the eyes and mouth of the pumpkin and apple for the bat.
To make the wings out of apple just use a few drops of black food coloring and color the wings as we did the chicken.  It works better if you use a napkin to dry off your apple pieces first.
I serve my chicken over green colored rice, but have also served it with spaghetti.
To make a skull and a ghost no food coloring is needed.  I used colored apple again here for the faces.

My favorite is a spider, a little more fun and of course the picture that did not turn out.
To make: follow the instructions for the bat, to make the legs take a few spaghetti noodles and break in half and place in hot water just until they will bend but are still firm.  Color carefully in a bag so they don't break, and add them to the side of your black chicken.  I will try to make one in the next little while and add to this post later.
This is a really fun dish to serve when guest come over.  The looks on their faces will be priceless!

I am posting a few small Halloween ideas to get caught back up.  The picture quality is very poor. I promise these are super cut in person.
First few ideas are with pipe cleaners and pom-poms!
Soda Topper!
First cut 3 black pipe cleaners in half and glue them to the pop lid.
Next glue a pom-pom on top of the legs and add eyes and a nose!
It was that easy!
My 2 and 4 year old have been bugging me for a few days to let them drink the pop.  It was really funny to see them a bit nervous to even go near the soda!

Chair Decoration!
To make this very simple Chair decoration take your pom-pom and glue a pipe cleaner to the top and bottom.  Now glue on the eyes and nose.
Twist the top pipe cleaner around a pencil and slip the pencil out. I glued a small pom-pom to the top.
Now just twist the bottom pom-pom around your chair!  This one is a witch, but you can also do the spiders we made above!
(Yes I do have an orange wall and black chairs!  What can I say, I have Halloween blood running through my veins!)

Napkin Rings!
(also cute if you wrap around a party invitation)
If you can make the spider or chair decoration, you already can make this!
Just make as directed above and wrap around a napkin, invitation, visiting teaching message or just about anything!

Bookmark!
Make your witch or spider as we did above and cut off about 3/4 of the bottom pipe cleaner.
Wrap the smaller end around the top of a large paperclip!
You can use this as a bookmark, to decorate a lunch sack or use as you would with any paperclip!

Halloween TREE!

This is such a cute idea we did out of Necessity.  As a young couple in a small apartment with NO storage, we needed to come up with creative ways to "store things"!  We decided to have a HOLIDAY tree and keep the Christmas tree up all year.  We decorated it for every Holiday and even for special occasions like our Anniversary and Birthdays.  To do the Halloween tree we used Halloween tinsel and for the ornaments we used Halloween treat cups.  (I got mine at the Dollar tree I think there is 6-8 in a pack)  We topped our tree with a witch my daughter made at school, and decorated under the tree with pumpkins!  We now live in a house with plenty of storage but still do the Holiday tree.  It is one of our favorite family traditions!

31 days of Halloween

October is my Favorite month of the whole year.  I love the cool air and the changing colors.  I love walking through the leaves and hear the sound they make as I kick along.  I'm also a Halloween baby.  I think Halloween is the most fun!  I will be posting a craft, game or other idea every day this month for the holiday! I hope it is as much fun for you as it is for me.
Our first day of Halloween is going to be really simple.
I found these really cute ghost shaped tins at Dollar tree.
I made a cake mix and poured it into my tins.
Baking it as directed on the box.
When the cakes were done we pulled them out and let them cool.
Next we frosted them with White frosting Yummmm!
Then used decorating gel to make the eyes and mouth.
These are the ones my daughter made.
