Preparing Your Personal ARK
As General Conference approaches I find myself looking back at past talks and evaluating myself. "Did I follow that council, or did I let another 6 months go by saying along the way "I will do it another day"?
The council we hear so often, but that seems to be so hard to follow is Food Storage and Emergency Preparedness.
How big a task this all seems. But I assure you that it is easier than you think.
I was one of those that sat around saying "I will do it another day", and "I don't have enough money". I was WRONG!
I didn't do it another day, and if you have Faith and follow the council it all somehow seems to work out.
Take small steps. Line upon line. You will be amazed.
It is up to us to Prepare our own ARK. We can not sit by relying on our neighbors to save us when the "rain" comes. If ye are prepared ye shall not fear.
This weekend is conference! It comes every six months! We need to rotate our water every six months. What better time than now. Conference can be your reminder. So if you have your water storage
DON'T FORGET TO ROTATE!
If you don't START NOW.
Here are some links to get you started.
Just a side note...I have several EMPTY plastic juice bottles (the 64 oz containers) I have intended to fill for a year now. My promise to myself, my family and you is that...I WILL FILL THEM THIS WEEKEND!

Conference Journals
These are some fun journals that everyone in the family can enjoy. Just click on the link below the picture to print a journal.
I hope you enjoy them!
Family Home Evening pack
This is the Family Home Evening section of the Family Planner that we are working on.
The Family Home Evening Pack includes:
Journal page
Planner page
Photo page
Lesson/Handout page
As part of our Family Home Evening we write a Journal page. It's fun to let everyone share their favorite part of the evening and what we learned.
We also try to take a few pictures of the kids having fun and paricipating in the activity or making treats.
We keep a copy of the lesson if possable to refer back to during the week and a copy of any ccute handouts we used.
The planner page is where we write down who has what assignment. This is a paper copy of what is on your Family Home Evening board.
It is so fun to look back at our Family Home Evening "scrapbook" and remember how much fun we had and laugh together.
To begin to asemble your Family planner get a one inch binder and sheet protectors. It works best if they are the glossy kind as we will be writing on them with a wet erase marker.
As each section or page comes avalable print them off and put them in the sheet protectors in the binder to keep them safe. When we are all done I will go over how to assemble your new Family Planner. You will love it!
Family Home Evening Board
This is a super cute and super easy activity we did for Family Home Evening.
The items we used were:
A Decorative Metal Hanger
A Wood Board
Wood craft tags
Plastic frames
(I got mine at wal-mart for $1)
Spry paint (any color)
Hot glue
Ribbon and embellishments
And a few small nails
First we sprayed the wood board and tags.
While they were drying we put our pictures in the plastic frames.
We then cut our ribbon and hot glued it to the back of our frame so it made a loop.
We strung ribbon through the top of the wood tags and hot glued them to the back of the board.
We then attached the ribbon to the back of the board at the top and tied it to our hanger.
To hang our pictures on the board, we tapped in some small nails on the top of our board so they lined up with our tags.
We labeled our tags with things like:
Opening Prayer
Scripture
Thought
Song
Lesson
Activity
Treat
Journal Page
Closing Prayer
We put small embellishments like bows on our tags and on the corners of our board. It would be really cute with flowers, buttons and other cute things to make it personal to you.
Then hang your new Family Home Evening Board up in a special place. I hung ours in the living room. It's easy to see and serves as a reminder to everyone what their assignment is. The kids love to see their pictures and help remind Mom and Dad to have Family Home Evening! So Cute and Easy. Enjoy!

Welcome to my blog
My four year old Son loves the Primary song "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" and sings it all day long. During one of his serenades the thought came to me...Am I being a Sunbeam and can I shine brighter? A question that only led to more questions, kind of like the never ending pile of laundry.
I know I did a load, but my pile seems bigger somehow. So I decided to start this blog for 2 reasons. First, I am determined to be a better Sunbeam and spread a little more light around. Second, I now have a place to share my thoughts, ideas and recipes with my family and friends. All are welcome here and may we all light up someones life today!
